• Not quite sure what your asking. On mine I bought after doing the auto channel scan, the channel up/down works fine to switch channels, or can use the number pad to punch in the exact channel you'd like. If I'm way off on what you're asking please explain in more detail what you mean by "search for channels by going up and down the numbers" and I can try it on mine if I don't already know answer. I must say it is a great tv with excellent sharp picture. Really happy with mine.
