We tested a TV from the same series (UN7300) using both the cable and LG remotes. With the cable remote, it recalled the last channel the TV was on prior to being turned off with no menu. Using the LG Magic Remote the menu comes up but disappears after a few seconds and defaults to the last channel the TV was on before it was turned off. I cannot guarantee that it will always work like this. This TV comes with a Magic remote but you can but a standard remote which is less complicated. ^Daphane
