Does set up require an internet connection? null

I don't think an internet connection is "absolutely" required. But you will need to connect if you want to use the "smart" features, and get periodic firmware updates.

The LG 48" Class B4 Series OLED 4K UHD Smart webOS TV (2024), Model # OLED48B4PUA, can be set up without an internet connection. The TV offers smart features and streaming services that require an internet connection, but the basic functions, such as adjusting settings, using HDMI inputs, and viewing over-the-air TV channels through an antenna or cable, will work without needing to connect to the internet, and you will not be able to receive firmware updates when they are available without an internet connection...^Ivan.
