You will notice on newer TVs like the ENERGY STAR® Qualified LG 1080p LED TV - 49" Class (48.5" Diag), Model # 49LF5100 a port labeled the 'Shared Composite/Component Video Input.The number of Component and the decades-long standard bearer, Composite, video connections are now few in number and have been consolidated into a single video input option referred to as a "Shared Composite/Component Video Input". The TV's video input circuitry has been modified so that both a composite (also referred to as RCA ports) and a component video source can be accommodated. You just can't plug both a composite video and component video signal source to the TV at the same time. You can still plug your VCR or older DVD player to the TV using this port, but not both at the same time...^IFV
