Has anyone with a new machine experienced a squeaking/rubbing noise during the wash cycle and when its agitating? I replaced my 1st machine, now the 2nd one is doing the same thing (Geek Squad repair didn't fix it). Debating whether to try a 3rd one! null

I just got my delivered today and I'm sitting here watching it cycle through the first wash and it's making a squeegee sound while agitation, like when you squeegee you water off your windshield...

Happened to me on new LG front load wash machine. High pitched squeak like metal or plastic on styrofoam with agitation. Looked in manual and 1st thing it said on unpacking the machine was to removed large irregular piece of styrofoam from bottom of machine (there for protection of drum on transport). I looked underneath the machine and sure enough there with this large irregular piece of styrofoam about 9x11 in stuck under there. removed it and now no squeak.

The squeak is due to the tub suspension spring rubbing on the plastic tub. It's a shoddy design, if you remove the top cover you can put some silicone lubricant or white lithium grease where the spring attaches to the tub, and the squeak will be resolved.

YES Sue! I found this same situation with my newly delivered washing machine -- what I found was the following: the delivery men removed the washing machine from the box and hooked carrying straps between the two men.. they had huge buckles on them and the one buckle dented in the rear of the washing machine near the top-- this is extremely thing and easy to bend... when we first turned it on we heard the sound you are hearing... I noticed the dent.. and instead of waiting a long time for someone to come out to repair.. I took off the rear silver panel and bent it back (took several attempts.. but right at the point where it ws bent inward.. there is a rubber spacer on the drum of the washing machine that when it turns bulges outward... if you don't have enough clearance between the rubber spacer and the metal back of the washing machine it will make that rubbing noise... ) SUGGESTION to LG.. add more space between those two pieces.... OR instead of Rubber.. make the spacer out of felt (or cover it in felt) an you won't get that nasty rubbing /squeaking sound-- probably would save a LOT of service calls... I just chose to fix it myself and I could literally see the rear of the washing machine "Bump out" -coinciding with the squeak/noise.. so that is how I know what is is. Delivery guys were great... so that is why I didn't report it.. it was an honest mistake -- Hope this helps you (or others?) OR LG!

My new LG washer is doing the same thing. It's located in my basement and I can hear it upstairs. Driving me crazy and it scares our dog!! We love LG products and the washer does a great job, but this noise is crazy.

Same problem with this washer squeaking during wash agitation, but not during spin. There is a 3” x 5” foam block on the back of the outer tub that rubs against the metal back of the machine when the tub moves. I could see the back panel bulge out a little during the squeaking. I removed the back panel and covered the foam pad with Teflon tape, secured to the tub with duct tape. A self-adhesive Teflon patch would be easier. Now the tub still rubs the back panel while agitating, but it doesn’t squeak. Other than this minor annoyance, we have been happy with the washer so far.

Yes, one day old and squeaky. Leveled machine and performed calibration that was not done by set up crew. Follow directions in manual. Noise gone. Second one owned. After 7 yrs, first one finally worn out.

Thanks to another users response, we solved the squeaking problem with our brand new LG Washtower. There was an iceberg sized piece of styrofoam lodged underneath the washing machine. It took about an hour of using a carving knife to break it apart into smaller chunks small enough to clear the bottom of the washer while it was leaning on its back. **Note: this is NOT the large molded styrofoam cardboard-backed square piece. This is a cube molded in the shape of a glacier. (wiping sweat still)

If it is a new one, they probably did not remove the large styrofoam block under the unit! I had mine for a day and thought it was defective-- tilted it and my daughter pulled out the large block from the bottom--- super quiet now!

I bought a brand new LG WashTower.  The installer never tested the washer/dryer before leaving my home which is included in the installation.  My first load of wash was crazy loud with a loud rubbing/squeaking sound during the wash cycles and much much worse during spin.

Lo and behold they left a big hunk of Styrofoam under the unit.  Finger crossed it didn't do any permanent damage to my new machine.  Fan of LG, not a fan any longer of this experience.  Hose installation photos included as well.  I'm redoing the installation myself basically.

If it’s a new washer, before taking things apart or calling a service repair, tilt the washer and look underneath. The LG models have a chunk of styrofoam supporting the drum during transport. If it’s not removed, it causes an awful squeaking sound. If you see it under the front right side of the machine, remove it and see if that improves the sound.

Make sure the sides of the washing machine are clear. I had wedged an ironing board between the wall and left side in my Whirlpool washing machine. Then it started squeaking. After I cleared the sides the sound instantly went away.

Apparantly due to poor instructions lot of squeak and vibration issues are piece of foam internally ( packing ) you can get to by assistant  tipping machine at 45 degrees and you pulling it out ! Its part of the packing often missed that supports drum ( along with the rear drum bolts you remove before using new machine .

I have had my wash tower about 6 months woth no problem... We moved it a foot then back in the same spot..it seemed fine,.but the next day it started whining.... I checked for levle after reading some of these and it was only out by a 1/4 inch if that... We levled it perfectly and the sound stopped.

Mine had a squeak while spinning that didn't sound right. Started on the first run today when it was installed. Based on this thread, checked for the Styrofoam underneath and it was there. Pulled unit out and tilted way back and partner pulled out the piece.
