LED stands for Light Emitting Diode. And there are thousands of them lighting up every dot on your screen. This creates a very bright and vibrant image. I think it may be closer to an LCD tv, because that has a Liquid Crystal display creating very clear images by displaying the crystals on each dot, or pixel of the screen. But it must be backlit and is not as bright an image. Plasma is a form of energy that is projected onto the screen from the rear. It is bright and is older technology. I believe LED and LCD allow for a much lighter and thinner screen.
