The pre-set display modes that creates the best picture will be very specific to your environment which is precisely why "out the box calibration" is needed. Factory settings cannot and do not account for different environments or individual preferences. In the Menu under Picture Settings you will find Advanced Controls and Expert Controls that have controls for Dynamic Contrast, Dynamic Color, Preferred Color, Super Resolution, Gamma, Color Gamut, Edge Enhancer, Color Filter, White Balance and Color Management System that allow you to tweak the TV to your desire. There are more settings in the Picture Mode Settings that, if you're up to it, you can adjust to get the picture you're comfortable with. If you want it done more precisely, you may want to consult with the Geek Squad's Calibration Services. They will calibrate it for the room that the TV is installed in and they will calibrate each input for each devices connected to that input to give you the best possible picture.
