The direction a soundbar's subwoofer faces matters for sound quality, but mostly due to its interaction with walls and corners, rather than direct aim. Because bass is largely omnidirectional, you can orient the driver towards the listener or a wall, but it should generally be placed in the front of the room, ideally near a corner...^Ivan.
