  • QuestionI see that it will transfer music on to a CD from the computer, but can I use it to transfer music from a CD to the computer?

    • Answer Hi Gary. The LG - 8x External Double-Layer DVD±RW/CD-RW SuperMulti Blade Drive - Silver, Model # AP70NS50 works just like a built-in DVD optical drive in any Laptop works. The only difference is that one is external and the other is internal. If you have a Windows Media Player on your laptop, simply insert a music cd into the AP80NS50 and click the Rip CD button. Windows Media Player in Windows 10 can copy your CDs to your PC as MP3 files, the industry standard for digital music. But until you tell the player that you want MP3 files, it creates WMA files which is a format that won’t play on iPads, most smartphones, nor many other music players...^IFV

    • Answer Worked fine on my Windows 10 laptop right out of the box. Comes with a DVD to install some editing software but you should not have any issues with this device on your equipment.

  • QuestionOur new car does not have a CD player. I can play off my IPhone, but want to play music from our CD collection when we are on trips without having to copy all of them to a thumb drive can I use this device to play CDs?

    • Answer Hi, no this device won’t play the cds on your trip. This device creates new cds, for example creating a cd of your favorite iPhone mix onto a cd.

    • Answer So long as the music is not protected you should have no problem burning it to disc with this unit. I have not burned music using this drive but I will note that I found the drive on the slow side but, for the money I paid for it, it served my purpose. If you want to burn a lot of music files you may want to look for a faster drive.

  • Question. Looking to purchase for my wife's 2009 Macbook Pro5,5 as the internal 8X DL superdrive quit working. Wanting an external drive for playing and recording CDs and DVDs. It currently is running on OS X 10.10.5. Will this work with this system?

The drive supports TV Connectivity which is a function that that allows you to enjoy videos, pictures and music by connecting this product to a compatible A/V device (e.g. DIGITAL TV, DIGITAL PHOTO FRAME, PC) that supports USB connectivity. The drive is defaulted to ODD mode when it is powered on. To use TV Connectivity, without the disc, press and hold the ‘Eject’ button for 2 seconds. (The LED indicator will turn on, switching to TV mode. You can press and hold the button again for 2 seconds to return to ODD mode.)...^Ivan.
