Will this device operate with an iPad? null

I'm not absolutely sure, but I don't believe so.

iPads do not come equipped with the necessary software and hardware to work with external DVD drives. The LG 8x External USB Double-Layer DVD±RW/CD-RW Drive - Black, Model # SP80NB80 connects to compatible devices via its USB port and even if you manage to connect it or a DVD drive to an iPad, it just doesn’t have the means of recognizing the DVD drive or the DVD disc. Anything that requires a Super Drive like iDVD or iMovie will not recognize the external DVD drive unless it is an Apple Super drive. iPads are not designed to work with external peripherals...^Ivan.
