I also recently purchased this item and lo and behold it worked for some of her workout tapes to use on the labtop when she downloaded the free version online. Now the acess is denied and you don't offer the software for her to use the workout discs. I honestly am apauled you sold a dvd writer player and have to buy a subscription in order to use the product. Hilarious
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I bought the external DVD drive today at Best Buy and did not install the bloated Cyberlink software. Already had VLC installed and it came up fine.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I recently purchased this External DVD/CD player. I had problems playing my DVD's when I downloaded the media suite that came with this. I recently purchased a new Windows 10 laptop and my Media Player would not play the DVD's. I just found a solution today by upgrading my Media Player. I followed the directions given from this Youtube. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kuJIGOGujO0) He gave a couple of ways to do this upgrade. I followed his instructions and I downloaded the "Media Player Code Pack" which upgraded my Media Player. It solved my problem, I can now play my DVD's.

Please try again later. The Cyberlink software that is bundled with the LG Slim Portable DVD Writer DVD Disc Playback & DVD M-DISC™ Support, Model # SP80NB80 does not come with a "movie function" The software allows you to to write data to a disc, so you can create your own music CDs, video DVDs or even create of back-up copy of your important data files. You can also play video CDs (VCDs), which are similar to DVDs, and if you have a compatible decoder installed on your computer, you can use Windows Media Player to play a DVD-Video disc—this is the type of DVD that movies are distributed on. If you encounter an error indicating that you are missing a DVD decoder, select Web Help in the error message dialog box to determine how to obtain a decoder. If you get a message that says that your computer is missing a codec or that you require a DVD decoder, you're probably trying to play, burn, or sync a file that was compressed by using a codec that Windows or the Player doesn't include by default. If your computer's operating system is Windows 10, unfortunately, if you pop a DVD into your Windows 10 computer, you'll run into some trouble because Windows 10 Media Player doesn't support DVDs. If the multimedia software through which you can play a DVD was not bundled with the drive, you have other alternatives. Microsoft offers a Windows DVD Player app, but it costs $15. A better option lies with free, third-party programs. Products like VLC Media Player, 5KPlayer, and Daum's Pot Player can play your DVDs with little muss or fuss...^IFV
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I know it's terrible to look for DVD player software for PC's. And, macs or whatever. The problem is with Reliability Component Compliance 1.3.1.28(1.3.1:28). It's really a problem. Microsoft as a software company is reliable to take care of all the electronic components. And with a fast moving technology product and media outline it would be impossible to keep up. The easy answer is as soon as DVDs and Blu-ray's become old video technology there's going to have to be a new type of player. Honestly Microsoft would not be able to keep up with the pace. And, quite honestly that's the challenge from total market monopolization. And, obviously the best part that Microsoft doesn't have to be the only software quality program for home cinema. That would be a total disaster and a privacy nightmare.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.DVD function worked fine for me. In the initial setup it asked for what region you are in. If the region you setup with doesn’t match the region of your dvds it probably won’t work. Hope that helps.
