If you're looking for something for your home stereo system, this isn't what you're looking for. For that, you'll want a CD, DVD, BluRay or 4K player as those will go backwards in regards to support for 5.25" optical media. If you're looking for a cost-effective CD and DVD burning drive for your Mac or PC, as well as being able to read/play CDs and DVDs on your computer or laptop, then this is a great and affordable unit. I use this drive to rip CD's and DVD's to my computer and then move to media servers for use around the house.
