The LG - 8x External USB Double-Layer DVD±RW/CD-RW Drive - Black Model # SP80NB80, can read and play smaller 3-inch (80 mm) mini CDs, but only if you use a special 8 cm disc adapter ring in the tray. The pull-out drawer on the SP80NB80 has a single molded circular indentation sized only for standard 4.7-inch (120 mm) discs. A small 3-inch disc will not snap securely onto the center spindle if you just place it loose in the oversized tray, and it cannot center itself for vertical use, so you must place the mini CD inside a snap-in 80mm-to-120mm adapter ring. This adapter expands the outer edge of the disc to standard size so the drive's internal mechanism can grip and spin it properly...^Ivan.
