Most such devices cannot adequately power any external device. Having said that, if you can attach this LG CD/DVD reader/writer to an iOS-based device, and attach the iOS-based device to your iPad, then it should work, since the LG unit is compatible with most Apple and iOS-based devices.

Optical drives cannot plug directly to your iPad. There are many ways that you can import data to your iPad. You can connect this LG - 8x External USB Double-Layer DVD±RW/CD-RW Drive - Black, Model # SP80NB80 to your Mac or PC then plug your iPad into your Mac or PC and drag and drop files or copy tracks from a cd to your computer, transfer the tracks to a memory stick then transfer from the memory stick to your iPad if it has a USB port. ^Daphane
