“I've installed LG DVD writer, works beautifully. Do I leave the USB in port after I finished using it can it be removed and just plug USB in when in need?”

• I unplug the external reader/ writer when not in use.

• The drive may get its power from the PC USB power. I do not believe it has to remain connected. If you prefer for it to have continuous power, you will to connect to the USB Y type cable, which is not supplied.
