• CD drive in my MacBook Pro stopped working. Tried using Apple external CD drive and that didn’t work because it already has the drive. This one works and costs less. Also use it in my Dell laptop. Should have save my money and not bought Apple CD drive.

• Yes, this unit is compatible with Mac PCs. Yes, as long as the DVDs are not copy protected, you can copy them to your hard drive.
