It comes with a USB cable (about 20" long) and is powered by the USB port. You don't need a separate power cord. I've not tried to burn files using this drive, but the drive says it can read and write.

This DVD burner will burn anything you ask it to, but I believe most DVD players are not designed to play files in AVI or WMV format. Maybe there are some out there that do, but that's not a standard DVD function. Now, you could convert an AVI or WMV file into another file in a standard DVD format. To do that, you will need special software for that purpose, and it could be a tedious project, but it is definitely possible. My point is that the conversion is a software process and it is not related to the DVD burner. Now, once you convert the file, you can then burn it into a blank DVD and it will play on any DVD player. I hope this helps.

Downloading is not my forte, so can't answer the rest of your question. So sorry! Very light and compact, though. Takes up little room. Bought it for my up-coming cruise when we are out to sea. Have to play my video games! LOL Karen B
