“Will this work with the surrounds mounted to the ceiling? I don't have a way to put them behind the seating position, but I do have mounts and power in the ceiling already for speakers. Will the calibration tool figure out how to deal with this?”

Hello there! The LG S95TR Soundbar is designed to optimize surround sound placement using its AI Room Calibration feature. While the rear speakers are intended to be placed behind the seating area, mounting them on the ceiling can still work. The calibration tool will analyze the speaker positions and adjust the audio output accordingly.
