For clarification to my question, I’ve tried airplay (projector device does no show up) and I’ve tried “screen mirroring”. I’m trying to display my phone screen to the projector.

Please try again later.i tried for hours to do the same thing and couldn't get it to work. eventually i had to plug it in to a laptop with an hdmi cable and that is the only way i could get it to work. so maybe there is a way but it didn't seem like to me, like this is compatible with apple products. even tried to use third party apps to facilitate the screen sharing and it was a no go.
