It's actually because of the untraditional blusih color of the light that makes the steam more visible. Second question no it doesn't. Just leave your microwave open for a couple minutes after using it for the moisture to evaporate.

The door is designed to allow heat and steam to escape to prevent the overheating of the unit. Condensation inside the unit is normal when cooking foods of high moisture content.~Rita
