• I had the LG model before this one for 6 years and I've never had a problem with rust. I suggest you keep it clean and dry after wiping up any spills

• Try manually drying area after each use. I do for sides and door.

• Usually that happened as a result of moisture being trapped. If heating something particularly moist leave the microwave open for a couple minutes or grab a paper towel and do a quick wipe.
