The cooktop is an Edge-to-Edge Glass-Ceramic Cooktop Surface, and silicone mats are generally not safe to use while cooking on traditional radiant electric ceramic glass tops, as the intense direct heat can melt them. They are designed specifically for induction cooktops, where they protect against scratches and spills without melting...^Ivan.

The answer from the factory says that silicon mats can only be used on induction stove tops.  I thought this model came as an induction stove top. ?
