A:Answer It depends on your provider. If it is prepaid, you will likely buy service 30 days at a time. Prepaid also has plans where you only buy minutes or data in a specific amount. Once you use that amount of data or minutes you need to reload your phone. If you choose to go with a postpaid plan the provider normally sets the parameters on how long service must be retained. I like prepaid because there are no Universal fees or charges and you can move from provider-to-provider quite easily. This is helpful to people who don't want to go through credit checks or have to pay deposits for phone service. It is also helpful to those who end up with a service provider with a poor signal in their area, you can switch at any time.
