• Sorry for your loss. Unfortunately this dvd-rw player is designed to work internally for desktop PCs. Itd be too much work to get adaptors to make it work externally. For laptops, they do sell external drives that connect via USB.

• This unit was not made for a laptop, only for a desktop computer. It uses a SATA connection which is used in a laptop for much smaller drives. You would need to buy an external drive for your laptop. They are quite cheap and connect with USB which your laptop contains
