Try updating your graphics drivers, most monitor problems can be related to that. An older monitor wouldn’t require more up-to-date drivers, so it explains why your older monitor didn’t have any troubles. By trying another cable, we’ve isolated it wasn’t the cable. The monitor works, so it isn’t a monitor problem. That leaves software, which leads me to think drivers. Hopefully that helps, although a bit late of a response.
