Thank you for reaching us regarding LG Monitor. When selecting between HDMI and DisplayPort for your LG 45GR95QE-B monitor, DisplayPort is often the better choice for top performance. Key Differences: • Bandwidth and Refresh Rates: The LG 45GR95QE-B has HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4 connections. While HDMI 2.1 can handle high refresh rates and resolutions, DisplayPort 1.4 provides more bandwidth, which is ideal for high refresh rates like 240Hz at 3440x1440 resolution. If your graphics card supports DisplayPort DSC (Display Stream Compression), you can achieve 240Hz with DisplayPort 1.4. • Picture Quality: Both HDMI and DisplayPort provide good picture quality when functioning properly. However, DisplayPort is typically better for higher refresh rates and resolutions, especially for gaming. • Cable Quality: Use high-quality cables to ensure optimal performance. An old HDMI cable might not support all features of HDMI 2.1, while DisplayPort cables should be at least version 1.2 or newer. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Display port. It's faster if nothing else. Here are some considerations: Resolution and Refresh Rate: DisplayPort historically supported higher resolutions and refresh rates compared to HDMI. However, HDMI has caught up in recent versions (HDMI 2.1) and now also supports high resolutions and refresh rates. You have to have the right cable version for this. Compatibility: HDMI is more commonly found on consumer electronics like TVs, monitors, and gaming consoles. DisplayPort is more common on computer monitors and high-end graphics cards. Audio: HDMI supports audio and video transmission in a single cable, making it convenient for connecting to TVs and home theater systems. DisplayPort also supports audio but may require a separate cable for it. Adaptability: DisplayPort supports daisy-chaining multiple monitors from a single DisplayPort output, which can be useful for setups requiring multiple displays. HDMI generally does not support daisy-chaining, although some newer devices may offer limited support. Version Differences: Both HDMI and DisplayPort have gone through multiple revisions, with each version offering improvements in bandwidth, resolution support, and features. HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4 are the latest versions (as of my last update). Make sure your devices support the versions you need for your desired resolution and features. Cost: HDMI cables and devices are often more affordable and widely available compared to DisplayPort equivalents.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I’m running hdmi 2.1 from my rtx 4090. HDMI 2.1 provides 48 gbps bandwidth while the Display port 1.4 is at 32.4 gbps. Display port has to rely on display screen compression to hit high refresh rates while hdmi 2.1 will be uncompressed video to hit the best quality and refresh rates.
