  • QuestionI have LG UltraGear 49" LED Curved Dual QHD and the microsoft surface laptop 5. I tried a lot of docing stations and i wasn't able to get the max resulotion of 5120*1440. What is the recommended type-c docking station to suport the max resulotion?

To achieve the maximum resolution of 5120x1440 on your LG UltraGear 49" LED Curved Dual QHD monitor with a Microsoft Surface Laptop 5, you'll need a docking station that supports DisplayPort 1.4 or Thunderbolt 3/4. Look for a Thunderbolt 3 or Thunderbolt 4 docking station for the highest data transfer speeds and video bandwidth. Make sure the dock explicitly states support for 5120x1440 resolution. If not using Thunderbolt, ensure the docking station has DisplayPort 1.4 for the necessary bandwidth.   • QuestionI see this monitor has a USB type B port. I have a USB type B to USB C cable. Will this allow me to plug this monitor into my Macbook without using HDMI? I don't care if it doesn't charge my Macbook, only that it displays an image.

To connect the LG 49" Curved UltraGear™ DQHD 1ms 240Hz Monitor with VESA DisplayHDR™ 1000 (Model #49GR85DC) to your MacBook, it is unlikely that you can use a USB Type-B to USB-C cable. The USB Type-B port on the monitor is typically used as an upstream port to connect the monitor to a computer and enable the USB hub on the monitor to communicate with devices plugged into its USB ports. Instead, you will likely need to use an HDMI or DisplayPort cable, depending on the available ports on your MacBook. If your MacBook has a USB-C port that supports DisplayPort Alt Mode, you may be able to use a USB-C to DisplayPort cable for a direct connection.
