It should. I would check the setup and make sure that you are outputting 1080P/1080i/720p to your set. I believe that the default setting is 'auto', and your 970 should sense the limitation on your TV as 1080P and output that signal. Another place to check would be the input setup on your TV to make sure that the HDMI port you have it plugged in to is set to either 'auto' or 1080P. Without knowing which TV you have and which input/output settings you are using, it is hard to say. It could also be a cable issue as HDMI cables are touchy, to say the least. To be future proof for that 4K TV you might buy later, make sure all of your HDMI cables are 'premium certified' for 4K UHD signals. There are many inexpensive cable options out there that are ...just look for the 'premium certified' label on the cable or the box. If that label is not there, there is no telling if the cable truly will pass the higher def signal. HTH
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Most likely you are using a old standard HDMI cable. Try looking for a 2.2 hdmi cable. All 4K players require the new standard 2.2a HDMI out connection. The HDMI going into the display or AVR does not have to be 2.2 compatible to receive the signal but the player sending it does.
