While this unit is factory unlocked, it is compatible with all major US carriers. All updates must go through approval processes and are then issued by the carrier you are connected to. If a device is set to receive an update, it will be scheduled by the carrier once they are done with testing and approval. It has a model number of V405QA7. ^CP
