Unfortunately this case will not fit with a tempered glass screen protector. I had to take mine off in order to put the case on. If this is just a part-time case, I would recommend the Nūd case by lifeproof. It's a little more expensive, but it doesn't have a built in screen protector so you tempered glass will fit.

Yes you can. I don't know why anyone with this case would use it part time. However if that's the way you want to thats your choice. I wouldn't mine never comes out of this case. I had an iPhone 6 in the last case for 2years. It was like it just came out of the box when I turned it in. This one has been on my iPhone 7 for 6 months. I don't plan on taking it off until I get the iPhone 8.

It is super sensitive to touch so I don't see why it wouldn't work. Also, can return it if your not happy so it's worth a shot
