The Z-Strip lights are RGB LED string lighting with a 3M double sided sticky tape already mounted to the light strip, peel off the 3M tape covering and stick it to what every you want. The light strip will turn on white when plugged in and turn off when not plugged in without any other technology. However, if you want have colors or control them in the vast many ways you can you'll need a Android or Apple smartphone or tablet, or a Windows computer, along with a 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi network. As for how to do the rest, read the short directions in the box or visit www.lifx.com.
