• Hello, Charlie. The Linksys RE6400 range extender will not create a new wireless network. It will only extend the existing one.

• This does create a unique network ID such as if your WiFi name is 123ABC the network id using the WiFi extender would be 123ABC.EXT but it issues the same password

• Mine connected to my private network. It shows as my network ID with ext behind it. Same Security as my own. Works very easy
