This device plugs in to a USB port on your PC. I replaces the WIFI that cam with the PC. Since it is not cellular (like you smartphone) if gets to the internet via a router that is in your home. To get that router providing internet traffic you need a connection to an internet provider (Comcast or Verizon etc,). So, the bottom line is if you do not have internet to your pc through your router then buying this Linksys USB WIFI will not get you what you want.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This is only the hardware needed to connect to an existing wifi. It is will not give you wifi, which must be purchased through an internet service provider. Once you have wifi setup, your computer must have a wifi adapter that's let's it talk to the wifi. Most computers have this built in. This device would be for computers that don't, don't have 2 bands, or whose wifi adapter doesn't work.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes it will allow you to connect to the internet, But you will also need internet service (Verizon, Comcast, etc). It is possible that you already have a wireless connection on your computer/laptop, in which case you don't need this, you just need Internet service to you home. You may want to get am internet wireless "phone" adapter. This will allow you to connect anywhere, but requires that you buy a monthly service like verizon, This would be significantly more expensive as it requires a separate monthly service charge.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Installing this Linksys adapter to your Windows-based desktop computer allows it to connect to wireless networks, Savvy; you'll need an active wireless internet connection to use this. Monthly subscriptions will then be with your Internet Service Provider.
