• Yes, Jesse. You do need a modem and a Wi-Fi router for you to access the internet at home. The Linksys WUSB6300 Wireless Adapter will just upgrade your laptop or desktop computers to the next generation 802.11 AC standard for higher speeds and better range.

• You need a WiFi enabled modem, or a WiFi router, as this is a client for a WiFi network, but it will get your old notebook online at MacDonalds (or other WiFi “hotspot”).
