no this cable modem will not stay connected long enough for you to use it

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You will need a subscription for internet, and then they will have to do the initial install if you don't already have Cable Internet. This Cable Modem is connected directly to the coaxial cable provided by your cable company and will NOT go thru any decoder. They (the cable provider) will also need to be contacted so they can ACTIVATE the modem and initiate the service. Also, you will need to check with your Cable Provider and MAKE SURE that the modem you want to purchase is COMPATIBLE with their service. I hope this helps, good luck.
