That is correct, it changes the internet icon from the square box to the wireless icon; when you select the icon you get the list of local routers just like on your laptop.

Yes, this is designed to be used for your computer that does not have a wireless capability, doogie.

Correct, is supposed to autoload , there is a load disk I found more useful to access the settings. So far so good does eat 1 USB port, I mounted mine directly & have all rest on extension hub, does not state requirements for that.
