That depends upon the band you are using and the type of structures between your device and the access point. I am sitting about 25/30 feet at the most using 5GHZ band but the space is pretty open so my connection is really reliable. If you are going between floors in your home and there is a lot of interference, walls, lighting, cabinets then expect some lower signal. Overall it works just as good if not better than the typical radio that comes inside of your laptop. For the price, I cannot complain. Again, 5Ghz is a bit more limited in range but for my location and what I am doing, this device works perfect. Try it - you can always return it
