Any switch should work in any of the nodes to increase the number of available wired ports. I'd recommend a gigbit switch, though that's up to you.

Please try again later.I actually a TP-Link 8-Port Gigabit Ethernet Desktop Switch plugged into one of the velop nodes in my home and have a TP-Link 5-Port Gigabit Ethernet Desktop Switch plugged into another one in a different room. I have a hue bridge plugged in directly to my third node. I didn't have any problems with any wired device working properly right out of the box with the velop.
