The app on your phone will walk you through placing the nodes. All the nodes are exactly the same. You'll plug any one of them into the ethernet cable in your back bedroom and then you another one as an extender. You can add as many nodes as you want but you may only need two if that's all you are using now. Each node appears to be very powerful based on my layout. I have a 3 floor town home of about 2300 sq feet and I'm getting great speeds on all three floors. Only one node connects via ethernet... any additional nodes communicate to the node you have connected to your modem wirelessly. Hope that helps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I replaced my router and extender with the 2 node system and I experienced much better coverage and speed. Your extender more than likely extends the signal currently but is more than likely not producing the speeds u are paying your ISP for.

Please try again later.With a Velop 3-pack you would connect the first node to your DSL line in the back bedroom (and still have an Ethernet port to connect to the desktop computer) and then place the additional two nodes in locations that will best extend coverage throughout your home. When you add each Velop node, the Setup app will measure the throughput and signal strength back to the node it is connected to and let you know if it is too far away, too close, or just right. In your case, a third node could be placed closer to or in the upstairs bedroom and deliver great performance there. You should see a significant improvement over your router + extender as Velop is a tri-band router and is always dedicating one of the three bands to deliver your internet connection to each of the nodes while the other two bands are available for connection to your wireless devices. Your extender may be cutting that internet connection speed in half as it has to use one of its two bands to both communicate back to the router and maintain connection to your wireless devices.
