Very different technology. Each node is essentially a separate router. The main router talks to the nodes using a wireless backhaul channel. Some extenders aren't fully compatible and may just create more issues than fix the coverage issue. Also another issue would be speed deterioration. With a regular extender your speed will slow down no question about it. And if your speed isn't all that great than this will make it worse. Over all the velop and mesh systems alike beat any extender any day and quality is expensive. If you want whole home wifi and consistent speeds get a mesh system.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The big difference here for this unit is that the system units communicate with one another without consuming your core bandwidth. Depending on your bandwidth this true mesh router setup can have a profound download/upload speed difference vs. a router with extender. I replaced such a setup and for me I went from max 50 mbps to 260 mbps... so for me, the wasted bandwidth of the units talking to one another (base unit and extender) was big... your mileage may vary. Also I have seen close to full speed even when connected to the 3rd unit...something I never saw with a base/extender setup... previously I saw a huge drop off in speed when connected to the extender. The other benefit of this supposedly is that as you walk through your home or location... you're supposed to seamlessly be transferred to the nearest router without any hiccup or disconnection. I have seen an issue with this with some devices and intermittently...when it works, it works well... when not...you get stuck on the farthest note...which requires turning wifi on/off to connect to nearest node. Supposedly this will be fixed with a software update soon ... so this. may be a feature once again.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Extenders drop often. I've tried a couple. And they had to have different names than my primary network (xxxxx_ext). This has one network name throughout and because they talk to one another they rarely, if ever drop a signal. Mine never have. Can walk around the whole house and outside quite a distance with my laptop or tablet or phone without any degradation to my wifi signal and I now never even have to think about switching. It's automatic. And we all (family of 4) noticed a tremendous improvement in speed both up and down.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It is way better. We tried a number of extenders without any luck. Plus we had to switch networks as we walked around our house. This is all encompassing and well worth the price.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It suppose to give you all round the house wifi without deadspots, if you have a home with 2 store or more it will be worth it. The system didn't work for me tho.
