This carries very well outside. It has band forming technology which means the signal goes around corners as well as through walls better than older tech. You would have to disconnect your old WiFi to get rid of it. If you have a router modem combo you could turn off that router and plug these into the LAN connection. That would give you the best signal option. Do not try to use these as WAP as it will diminish signal and speed.

You can go into manage your network settings on any of your devices and long press on the old name and have it forget that network. I think the 3 pod system is good for 5000sq/ft.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The only way to get rid of the old wi-fi networks is to either turn off the wifi on the modem or disconnect the modem entirely. If you need the modem to connect the Velop, then you will need to go to the configuration menu for the modem and turn off the wi-fi. Although what difference does it make if you have the old wi-fi networks still showing up?
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You need to remove the old routers, (unless its your modem also) at a min you will want to turn OFF wifi on the old router, it will cause the new one to slow down as there are to many signals in one place

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The Velop system is the router so get rid of your old router. Plug the modem to the velop and set it up a s a new router. You can name your wifi whatever you want and no you won't have to create a 2.4 or 5ghz band. All of that is already taken care of by velop. Will it reach outside? Maybe? It all depends on location of the nodes and your home building materials. I'm able to get wifi from a 2 Velop system when I'm outside of my home relatively far too. But nothing I wasn't expecting from a premium router. The point of this system is to cover the inside of your home with wifi not so much the outside.

If it is built into your modem then use settings to shut off without disconnecting your modem. Check with your service provider. Mine would charge me twice if I had two routers on the same cable modem.
