“If I leas an all in one modem (modem+wifi) from Comcast can I connect these to it by Ethernet cable and have a separate wifi/mesh system? Or will I have to bridge the connection for that tow work?”

You must connect one unit to your Comcast modem by Ethernet cable (provided in package), the others only get connected to their own power supply. This does set up a new network (mesh network) of its own.

And in some cases not even then. (Slingbox, chrome remote desktop and some other devices provide other ways to gain remote access.)
