Hi Enotsola, the C920 camera is about 1.25 inches. The lens plus the attached mounting part in a closed position is 1.70 inches. Depending on how much adjusting you are doing with the tilt and clamp on the monitor you may need more than 2 inches. You can always pull your monitor out of its area, affix the C920 webcam to the monitor and then place it back into its home.
