• The case can hold both pencils, I would suggest the gen 1 pencil if you don't have the iPad Pro.

• Unfortunately, since this case is for the iPad 7th Gen, the second generation Apple Pencil won't work with the case as the second generation Apple Pencil doesn't work with this iPad.
