I can answer the question about the keypad, and the answer is yes. The keyboard does light up. I do not use the pencil holder so I cannot give feedback on that.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes the keyboard is back lit. And yes it has a place to slide the Apple Pencil holder. See my recent post about the use of the key board, though. The back lit feature comes on when the keyboard is usabable, meaning it has to be in the cradle at a specific angle to work. This generally means it must be a flat surface and not at too much of an angle. Typically I have a cat (or two) sleeping on my lap making it a little harder to use the keyboard because of the angle I am using it at. It is a little frustrating.
