Hello jtupdike93! The Mode button on the F310 basically lets you choose which controller layout you'll be using on your PC, where X (for XInput) is your standard Xbox 360 controller layout which is used by many Game Developers on PC, and D (for DirectInput) is a bit much broader feature set and can be used for as many inputs of whatever type as the designer can imagine.
