“I have the G502 Proteus Spectrum and over the first year it developed pits on the sides where my thumb and fingers grip the mouse. Does this newer version have the same rubber compound or is it better? Will the rubber grips wear out over time again?”

The side grips are rubber and, as with any rubber grips, use over time will wear them down and they will smooth over and eventually pit, depending on how much you use the mouse.

Please try again later.As to thegrips, they appear to be the same rubber. can't speak to wear over time, but we've gone through a half dozen G502s in this house, and none of them have worn in that particular area to the point where we felt forced to buy a new one. We generally updated mice when we caught a sale on the same G502 device (or better, I went wireless with the Lightspeed G502).

I have only had mine a couple weeks but it feels like it would last long term with heavy use. My friend has had his for several months now and uses it daily, his isnt showing any signs of wear at all.
