yes it can be programmed to open applications. it can be programmed for macros, button clicks, app shortcuts, media controls. the list of things it can be told to do is actually rather impressive for a mouse.

However, if you really want this mouse and would like to be able to charge it, you could always buy rechargeable batteries and use a wall charger, like something Energizer makes. This mouse can be programmed to do just about anything, but you have to use Logitech's software to do so. Hope this helps!

Please try again later.So you can set different profiles for and assign them to any exe file (it scans your computer for games but you can add any program to its profile system). For modeling I use the buttons for keyboard shortcuts. I can't think of any reason you would tie a single file to a button btw the dpi buttons are so useful for both games and art
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You can program these button to any keystroke. If the application you want to use has keyboard shortcuts or "hotkeys" then yes. The Logitech software makes it very easy to set this up. There is no charging dock. AA batteries, I use rechargeables.
