“I'm getting very low volume in the earpieces with this model, though the volume is turned up all the way. The microphone is working fine. Has anyone experienced this and/or found a solution?”

No problems with volume. You might want to check your volume settings on your computer.

If you are using it to talk over a computer, sometimes the sound is low if the connection is bad. When I use it to listen to YouTube videos, it sounds better than the computer speaker. Hope this helps.
