Well, it depends. How will you use IR extender? If you wire it outside the closet so it can reach HDTV IR receiver, no problem. If you keep it all in the closet and have no other IR remote outside of the closet, no. In our case, we have a Harmony Touch, so it would work. It's a matter of priorities and how you are willing to wire it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It sounds like your system is setup just like mine. The remote uses the wifi network as well as RF, whatever is easier for the remote to communicate it will use. The hub does need to be connected for the entire remote system to work. The system is designed to have the hub in a cabinet...it will operate the TV with no issues.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Need to have an IR blaster near the tv to operate it. The remote communicates with the hub via RF the hub sends the IR signals.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The hub has a IR device to control your devices but the default is for the remote to talk to the hub and let the hub control things. This is adjustable. https://support.myharmony.com/en-us/control-devices-from-the-harmony-ultimate-remote-and-not-from-the-hub
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You need to install the IR blasters outside the closet in order to control the devices inside the closet. Remote will not work without the hub.
